Flute lessons
Styles: All
Skill Level: All levels
Suitability: Ages 7 years and up (minimum age is year 2 at school)
I am an experienced flute teacher who has been teaching in the Hills for a number of years. In our lessons we can focus on AMEB exams, revise & perfect school band material or simply learn popular flute repertoire for leisure. All lessons are specifically tailored to suit the individual.
Under my tutelage, current and past students have completed various AMEB exams and many students have gained places in competitive ensembles or high schools, for eg. Penrith Youth Orchestra, Greater Western Sydney Concert Band, acceptance into the CAPA program at Northmead Creative & Performing Arts High School etc.
Piano lessons
Styles: All
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Suitability: Ages 7 years and up / minimum year 2 at school
Our lessons are a fun musical journey where we start exploring the piano, our voices, percussion instruments and we learn to read music notation. I specialise in beginner students (minimum age year 2 at school) but am happy to teach older children, teenagers or even adults! We can simply learn for leisure or work on AMEB exam material, all lessons are specifically tailored to suit the individual.
When should students start piano lessons?
Parents often ask me if their child is ready to start piano lessons. It can be a tricky question to answer, and the best way to assess a new student is to attend a FREE trial lesson - we can meet in the person and see if lessons might be suitable. However, I’ve put together my top 5 for new students:
Does your child show an interest in music? Do they hum or sing along to music? Do they clap along or dance? Do they request particular songs? Have they asked for music lessons?
Can they count to 10?
Does your child know the alphabet? Can they recite A B C D E F G? Can they recite these letters in reverse G F E D C B A?
Do they know the difference between right & left?
Do you have a piano or keyboard in your home? Is there a quiet place where they can practice 4 or 5 times a week?

These one on one lessons assist students to reach their own personal goals; whether that be composing a certain piece, portfolio preparation for tertiary study or high school composition tasks. These lessons are especially important for students taking HSC Music 2 or Music Extension.
In our lessons we focus on Australian & European art music, inspecting scores and listening to music, to help expand students musical experiences. I provide detailed feedback on student’s compositions and guidance on preparing professional notated sheet music.
With over 10 years working in the Australian music industry and a composition degree from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, I have a good working knowledge of contemporary Australian art music.
All music lessons are tailored to individual needs; please email me to discuss further.
